B.G. 4.07-08: Why Lord Krishna/Vishnu descends?

Akbar once asked Birbal: Why does Lord Krishna/Vishnu descends on earth to save the saints like Prahlad? He could very easily send his representatives to accomplish the job.

Birbal replied : I will answer this at an appropriate time Sir.

Few days after that, Birbal and Akbar were traveling on a boat and Birbal threw a puppet, that resembled the grandson of Akbar, into the river. Akbar, not knowing that it was the puppet, immediately jumped into the river to save his grandson. When he figured out that it was a puppet, he asked Birbal for the reason for creating such an uncomfortable situation.

Birbal replied - Sir, there are so many soldiers on the boat, and you could have ordered anyone of them to save your grandson, but you yourself jumped out of your love for him. In the same way Lord Krishna/Vishnu incarnates in different forms to save the saints He love.

Krishna confirms the same fact in verse 4.07 as follows:-

Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion – at that time I descend Myself.

and He continues in verse 4.08:-

To deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I Myself appear, millennium after millennium.
