B.G. 1.1: The Spirit of Bhagavad Gita

There was once an illiterate Brahmana in South India, who used to cry while he would read the Bhagavad-Gita, though, being illiterate, it was very difficult for Him to understand the Bhagavad-Gita.

Other Brahmanas would often make fun of him as he was not able to utter the verses properly.

When he was asked that why he was crying even though he would not understand the meaning properly, he replied "When I see Lord Krishna taking the humble position of a chariot driver of His friend Arjuna, my heart gets filled with tears".

This indeed is the spirit of understanding Bhagavad-Gita. While other Brahmanas might be reciting the verses meticulously, they could never feel the joy this Brahmana was feeling!

The presence of Lord Krishna which was giving joy to this Brahmana(and Arjuna), was creating fear and doubts for Dhritrashtra, as his sons might loose the battle because of Lord Krishna's presence. Thus Dhritrashtra asks in the 1st verse of Bhagavad Gita :-

B.G. 1.1: Dhṛtarāṣṭra said: O Sañjaya, after my sons and the sons of Pāṇḍu assembled in the place of pilgrimage at Kurukṣetra, desiring to fight, what did they do?

To summarize:-

Bhagavad-Gita is a sweet candy,
The candy which is sweet from all sides,
Only by humble(heartly) and sincere attempt,
One can relish what, from the world it hides!
